Throughout Chinese Martial Arts history, there have been many styles developed from the observation of animals.  Imitating animal movements was part of chi kung for thousands of years in China.  The five main animals in the southern branch of Chinese martial arts are Dragon, Snake, Tiger, Leopard, and Crane.  Other animals include the Monkey, Toad, Panther, and many others.
